Goji Berries for Food Manufacturers: A Sourcing Guide

Dried goji berries are a pantry staple across Asia — for soups, congee, bakery and beverage lines. What to look for when sourcing them in bulk.

Size and color are the first signal. Premium dried goji is plump, bright red-orange, and free of white frost or clumping. Berry size (count per 100 g) is the standard grading axis — ask for the grade table before quoting.

Purity and foreign matter. Look for berries free of stems, leaves, sand and stones. Reputable suppliers sort twice — at the farm and at the packing line — and test moisture to keep the count weight honest.

Where it comes from matters. Origin affects taste, sweetness and yield. We supply goji sourced through our Zhangshu network with full traceability; third-party testing is available on request.

Sulfur and colorants. Some dried fruit is treated with sulfur or dyes to enhance color. Insist on an SO₂-free or low-SO₂ declaration and a test report that matches it — no exceptions.

Fit to your line. For beverage and bakery makers, broken or small berries often work at a better price; for retail and soups, whole premium berries sell best. Tell us your application and we will match the grade.
